Lava Bread

Ingredients

1 unsliced loaf of artisan bread

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

125g butter

½ cup hot sauce

6 spring onions, thinly sliced

100g hard blue cheese, crumbled

3 cloves garlic, finely chopped

METHOD

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Cut bread into slices, but DO NOT cut through to the bottom. Stuff mozzarella cheese in between the slices of bread.
  2. Melt butter over medium heat, once melted add hot sauce and whisk until well combined. Add spring onions, garlic and ¾ of the blue cheese and mix well. Remove from heat.
  3. Using a spoon add sauce to the bread. Make sure you get enough sauce in between each slice and make sure you use all the sauce. Top the bread with remaining blue cheese.
  4. Place bread on a baking tray lined with baking paper and then cover the tray with foil creating a tent so that it does not touch the bread (as it will stick to the cheese)
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve

We used Melbourne Hot Sauce Habanero Mango but anything will work here!
