African Rhino Peri Peri Hot Sauce
I first tried this sauce while I was travelling in the US a few years ago and fell in love with it straight away, but then completely forgot all about it. I re-discovered it at a café earlier this year in Sydney and I didn't hesitate to find out how I could get some for ChilliBOM. Full of rich flavour, a nice even medium heat all wrapped up in a funky looking bottle.
Its called African Rhino Peri-Peri sauce but is actually made in Alabama USA. The peppers used are from grown from strains that have derived from Africa, hence the name. This hot sauce has a very fragrant and full aroma delivered by the roasted tomatoes and roasted garlic. These ingredients shine through in the flavour which blend beautifully with the peri-peri chillies, lemon juice and cider vinegar to deliver a very rich and smooth sauce.
Being peri-peri chillies, this sauce sits at a medium level heat but African Rhino has managed to create a hot sauce with a nice even heat that lingers in the mouth well after the flavour is gone.
African Rhino Peri-Peri Hot Sauce is perfect for chicken and seafood and also great with bacon and eggs. Also makes a great marinade like with our Spicy BBQ Summer Prawns.
