The Datil Pepper is native to the US and is originally from the St Augustine Region of Florida. It's often compared to a habanero, but it has a fruitier flavour with a little bit more sweetness. This sauce is made in the traditional St Augustine way, which is a method that takes full advantage of the Datil Pepper flavour and heat. It has a smooth consistency, with earthy undertones from turmeric, mustard and molasses and a delicious tangy, sweet finish thanks to tomato, pineapple juice and cider vinegar. Another trait of the Datil pepper is its distinctive long, slow burn which is evident in this sauce, heavenly!
A great all-rounder hot sauce but its tangy-sweet finish is particularly suited to sandwiches, burritos and fresh seafood.
