ChilliBOM Red Box Autumn 2020

The All-Rounder Edition In this edition we feature three hot sauces that can best described as great all-rounders – hot sauces made to be used anywhere and everywhere. We start with the amazing Secret Aardvark hot sauce from Portland where ChilliBOM is proud to now be the official Australian distributor of the brand. We then have the mouth-watering Basketcase Gourmet Firestarter from Melbourne made using seven different kinds of chilli and then there is the small batch rich-tomato Brisbane heat bomb that is Jose Montezuma. These are made to be used anywhere and everywhere so happy pouring!

[REVIEW] Basketcase Gourmet Firestarter Hot Sauce

If you just go off the ingredient list you would be mistaken in thinking that this is a simply made hot sauce but there in lies its beauty and the inherent cleverness in its creator Kate. Basketcase Gourmet Firestarter is blend of 7 different chillies so your whole mouth is hit at once with a moreish chilli heat.

[REVIEW] Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce

The combination of roasted tomatoes, vinegar and mustard gives this sauce its Caribbean/Tex-Mex fusion style, a bit like a salsa crossed with a tomato sauce.

[REVIEW] Red Clipper Green Papaya Mango & Pimento

Open this funky bottle, and before you chow down, take a really good sniff of this sauce, you're hit with the fruity papaya and mango aromas that get your mouth-watering. This is a chunky-style sauce with lots of pieces of fruit and chilli that you can bite straight into.

[REVIEW] Fiji Fire Native Bongo Chilli Hot Sauce

The Fijian Bongo chilli is a habanero that was first grown in Fiji and is a sweeter, tangier variety than your standard habanero, growing into big bright red pods.

[REVIEW] Kaitaia Fire Chili Pepper Sauce

I discovered Kaitaia Fire on a trip to New Zealand about 5 years ago and have finally managed to get this stocked at ChilliBOM! All chillies are locally NZ grown in the "Winterless Far North" of Kaitaia, which is at the very North of the North Island of New Zealand.

ChilliBOM Red Box Summer 2019

Bang those bongos, this Red Box showcases three hot sauces from Fiji, Australia and NZ. Fiji Fire is the only known hot sauce made with the native Fijian Bongo chilli, and club members are the first to get exclusive access to this hot sauce in Australia. Kaitaia Fire is the last of our NZ features for 2019 and this one is a personal favourite, so I really hope you enjoy it, and if you haven’t been introduced to the Red Clipper range of hot sauces then say hello to the Habanero and Green Papaya. BONGO! BONGO! BONGO!

ChilliBOM Red Box Spring 2019

We had to physically break out of the box for this edition of the ChilliBOM Red Box! Mark from The Chilli Effect has been a long-time friend of ChilliBOM, and we have been wanting to feature this sauce for a while now, but it just wouldn’t fit no matter how hard we tried, so while Mark and I were wracking our brains over a beer (or two) to work out how to make this work, Mark came up with the great idea of just sending it outside the box…genius…and the ‘Out of the Box’ edition was born.

[REVIEW] The Chilli Effect Wizard's Lingering Burn

The inclusion of this hot sauce in the Spring 2019 Red Box is a long time coming! We started talking about it in late 2016 and the issue was that the bottle is too big for the ChilliBOM Red Box was built to hold the regular 150ml hot sauce bottles. So we tossed around a few ideas and then it got too hard then just decided over a beer one day not to even put it in the box and send it separately outside the box...pretty smart hey...well it shouldn't have taken almost 3 years to work it out! What really matters was getting this sauce in the hands of the ChilliBOMers as it is a cracking hot sauce.
