In this edition we feature three hot sauces that can best described as great all-rounders – hot sauces made to be used anywhere and everywhere. We start with the amazing Secret Aardvark hot sauce from Portland where ChilliBOM is proud to now be the official Australian distributor of the brand. We then have the mouth-watering Basketcase Gourmet Firestarter from Melbourne made using seven different kinds of chilli and then there is the small batch rich-tomato Brisbane heat bomb that is Jose Montezuma. This hot sauce is an aged Carolina Reaper sauce that delivers itself in 3 stages - sweet, naughty, grim. You get stage one which is a layer of sweet thanks to the molasses that has its own amazing depth of flavour. Stage two is the naughty tang of distilled vinegar and then stage three is the grim fire and heat of the Carolina Reaper which has been aged for 12 months using a specially developed 13 Angry Scorpions technique.

This quarter ChilliBOM went on the hunt to unearth some BRAND NEW Aussie-made hot sauces and we found some stunners, we have featured 2 here and they are both less than a year old! We then got duly Smacked in the Arse by a 17-year hot sauce veteran who told us to pull our heads in and reminded us that the hot sauce culture in Australia has been alive and well for a long time.
